This past Saturday (a cold, rainy, raw autumn day) my wife, kids and myself attended a 5K run to raise awareness and support the fight against AT (ataxia-telangiectasia ) - a rare degenerative children's disease that combines the symptoms of cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis and cancer. We reminded our kids that the cold weather was a small challenge and that Andrew (their 8 year old friend who has AT) faces much larger challenges every day.
The theme of overcoming challenges was really driven home by Tim Borland an "extreme runner" whom we joined for the last 5K of his 62nd consecutive marathon. That's right on that day he ran his 62nd marathon in 62 days. The following day - he reached his goal by completing his 63rd marathon in 63 days at the NYC Marathon.
His drive and determination are incredibly inspring.
