Why A Fundraising Community?

Welcome to the new social networking site for Fund-Raising.com. Maybe you're asking yourself what's up? What's this all about? Well consider it the next step in our evolution.

For years now we've been trying to provide a conduit for folks to communicate with eachother. The idea we had in 1994 when we started this site - still holds true today. We all have a lot to teach eachother! Back then it started out as a place to gather info - a one way stream of information. We published it, you read it and all was good. Then came email. You all would post your thoughts and ideas to our email system and we'd push it back out to everyone. Spam ruined that pretty quickly, but then the bulletin boards took over. Once again we had a way for all to post their ideas, questions, etc. That worked well for a long time but once again the greedy spammers over-ran our ability to edit the boards - every tactic that we employed was met with increased spam vigor.

So now - along comes social networking and the promise of an organically grown, self moderating community. We hope you all will use this opportunity to share your fundraising expertise and ask questions. Make connections with eachother, establish groups with like interests and needs. Post you thoughts to your own blog here for everyone to read. Build your own reputation as a source of knowledge and give back to the community.
