The Student Leadership Department at PA Leadership Charter School will be traveling to Panama this year. This year's trip will feature an education rally which will be held on Sunday April 4th. We will also be creating and distributing a literacy reader to an elementary school on an indigenous reservation near the mountain village where we will be staying. This will assist the children in obtaining jobs in the cities as opposed to maintaining lesser paying community jobs.
For the past four years PA Leadership has visited the mountain village of Boquete Panama and the surrounding indigenous reservation. Last year we were able to hold an education rally and install a water purification system. Two years ago we assisted a catholic mission’s launch whose mission is to teach the native indigenous people work skills. Three years ago we painted a mural on an elementary school that expressed our desire to partner with them as fellow students. This year we are going to repeat our education rally where local restaurants from Boquete donate food and students perform to raise awareness for education. We will also be creating and distributing a reader in English, Spanish and their native language of Ngobi. From our interaction last year with local elementary teachers we found that some parents in the schools were beginning to feel alienated from their children through the heavy emphasis on Spanish in the educational process. A simple reader in all three languages would be a small step to bridge the gap between our three cultures.
This trip requires a tremendous commitment from traveling students who not only prepare for months to develop a reader and participate in this event, but also raise a minimum of $500 in donations just to participate. We will be studying Spanish, completing our cyber lessons and performing this service learning project while we are there.
Elijah and I are students of PA Leadership Charter school and this year, we are traveling to Boquete, Panama. We have made this commitment and need your help to meet our goal of $4000, so that we can participate and help the children there.
By giving to the education rally, you'll be supporting PA Leadership and helping them provide literacy readers, raise educational awareness and provide food for the indigenous people of Panama.
There are many organizations out there fundraising for worthy causes, but I hope that you will donate to PA Leadership for education, and help them to increase literacy and the desire for education. We will actually be there helping the children, we will assure your donation benefits the children of Panama. In addition, when we return from the trip we will send you a picture of the children that helped.
Please take this opportunity to support PA Leadership Cyber Charter School. Your donation will do so much to help the indigenous people of Panama. If you decide to donate, checks can be made out to PALCS and sent to the following address:
