My weak points in being a supervisor is that I don't have a strong sense of creativity. I have to give our 'Donation Table' a major face lift and I don't know where to begin. I've started calling people I know from other organizations to come take a look and give me their expertize but I still don't have any idea what to in-vision.
Does anyone have information on how to creat a killer display for such a major fund-raising effort; my job depends on this.
Hi Dave, What a nice surprise. Yes, a picture of the table has been posted and yet I have more pictures that I can post tomorrow. They are downloaded at home so will need to forward those to my work e-mail address.
The USS Arizona Museum and Visitor Center, located at Pearl Harbor is going to be taken down. We have foundation damage, due to water saturation lying under the visitor center. A new, state-of-the-art museum and visitor center is going to replace the current facility and is being built, solely, on donations. We offer 'Thank You' gifts as an incentive for visitors to give toward the fund. The table is completely unorganized due to limited space and even so I think it could look great, even with the limited space but I just don't have the gift of creativity. The big boss came up with so many brain-storming ideas that he gave me the message that the sky's the limit. We can hang things, create something that could come out from the wall, make it sell-sufficient so if volunteers are not able to come in on their specified shifts, it can sell itself, etc.
Hi Andrea! Have you thought about having a backdrop created similar to what is done for trade show booth? A full color graphic backdrop would be great because it would really draw attention to your table. You can also use the custom graphic to tell a story.... which is what really draws people to get involved and give. You can probably get a full color backdrop that kind of curves around to the table for about $1200. Many of them even have lights that are mounted to the top that shine down on the backdrop. The nice thing about this is that even after the new facility is built, you can still keep this somewhere there for people who would like to make donations for ongoing maintenance, etc. To get some ideas just do a google search for trade show booths.... look for the custom modern, curved backdrops that are used with a podium in front of them (just don't get the podium).
The other thing that will entice people to give is to display the give-away gifts a little nicer. I would get some display racks. If you simply set items on a table it kind of has the look of "sign up for a credit card to get this free t-shirt".
